Casa das Gaeiras, located in Obidos and founded in the 18th century, early was considered as a quality wine icon from the region of Lisbon. This was the first producer of this region selling bottled quality wines. The prestigious awards collected throughout the years confirm the quality of it’s wines. Much of the reputation of Gaeiras was due to the white wine produced there, still referred to as "part of the history of wine in Portugal" by big names in the industry. Casa das Gaeiras is thus considered a small Chateau of Obidos’ region, where distinct wines, of very limited production are made, which are conspicuous by their tradition and typicality of erstwhile wines.
